From the vibrant streets of Quito to the icy shores of Antarctica, this journey will take you through some of the most diverse and breathtaking landscapes on Earth. You'll start your adventure in Ecuador, where you'll explore the Amazon rainforest and the Galapagos Islands. Then, you'll set sail for Antarctica, where you'll encounter penguins, whales, and seals.

Day 1: Arrive in Quito, Ecuador

Quito is the capital of Ecuador and a vibrant city with a rich history. You'll arrive at Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) and transfer to your hotel in the historic center of the city. After checking in, you'll have the afternoon to explore the city's many attractions, such as the Plaza Grande, the Cathedral of Quito, and the San Francisco Church.

Day 2: Visit the Amazon rainforest

Today, you'll take a day trip to the Amazon rainforest. You'll drive for about two hours to the city of Tena, where you'll board a boat and travel down the Napo River. Along the way, you'll see lush vegetation, exotic birds, and monkeys. You'll also have the opportunity to visit a local indigenous community and learn about their culture.

Day 3: Explore the Galapagos Islands

Today, you'll fly from Quito to the Galapagos Islands. The Galapagos Islands are a group of volcanic islands that are located about 600 miles west of Ecuador. The islands are home to a unique variety of wildlife, including giant tortoises, marine iguanas, and sea lions. You'll spend the next three days exploring the islands, hiking through lava fields, snorkeling with sea turtles, and watching penguins play on the beach.

Day 6: Set sail for Antarctica

Today, you'll board the MS Expedition, a luxury expedition ship, and set sail for Antarctica. The journey to Antarctica takes about five days, and along the way, you'll cross the Drake Passage, one of the roughest bodies of water in the world. However, the journey is worth it, as you'll be rewarded with stunning views of icebergs, glaciers, and whales.

Day 11: Arrive in Antarctica

After five days at sea, you'll finally arrive in Antarctica. You'll disembark the ship and step onto the icy shores of the continent. You'll spend the next few days exploring Antarctica, hiking through penguin colonies, kayaking among icebergs, and taking in the breathtaking scenery.

Day 14: Depart from Antarctica

Today, you'll say goodbye to Antarctica and board the MS Expedition for the return journey to South America. The journey back takes about five days, and you'll have plenty of time to reflect on your amazing adventure.

Day 19: Arrive in Quito, Ecuador

You'll arrive back in Quito on the morning of Day 19. You'll have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the city before your flight home.

Day 20: Depart from Quito, Ecuador

Today, you'll say goodbye to Ecuador and board your flight home. You'll take with you memories of a journey that will last a lifetime.

Tips for planning your trip

  • Book your trip well in advance, as space on expedition ships is limited.
  • Pack for all types of weather, as the weather in Antarctica can be unpredictable.
  • Bring a good camera to capture the amazing scenery.
  • Be prepared for seasickness, as the Drake Passage can be rough.
  • Respect the wildlife and the environment.

If you're looking for an adventure of a lifetime, then a journey from Ecuador to the Antarctic is the perfect trip for you. This journey will take you through some of the most diverse and breathtaking landscapes on Earth, and you'll encounter wildlife that you've never seen before. So what are you waiting for?
