Stefan Luchian (February 1, 1868 – June 28, 1916) was a Romanian painter known for his landscapes and portraits. He is considered one of the most important Romanian painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Luchian's work is characterized by its use of vivid colors and its depiction of the Romanian countryside.

Luchian was born in Stefanesti, Arges County, Romania. He studied art at the Bucharest School of Fine Arts and later at the Académie Julian in Paris. He returned to Romania in 1894 and settled in Bucharest, where he lived and worked for the rest of his life.

Luchian's early work was influenced by the Barbizon School, a group of French landscape painters who emphasized the importance of painting outdoors. Luchian's landscapes often depict the Romanian countryside, with its rolling hills, lush forests, and sparkling rivers. He also painted portraits, which are characterized by their psychological depth and their use of color.

Luchian's work has been exhibited in Romania and around the world. He is represented in the collections of the National Museum of Art of Romania, the Bucharest Museum of Art, and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
